cherylUpon graduating from the Ontario College of Art in Communications and Design, Paul became the senior art director at Maclean’s Magazine. After spending five years in that position Paul left to become managing partner in his first independent design and production studio, working for such clients as CTV, TV Guide and Nelson’s of Canada.

Three years later Paul created Galer and MacMillan Communications (G&M), a nationally acclaimed design studio/agency with clients such as the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade and Seneca College (producing work for both in the domestic and international markets). After nearly 25 years as CEO and Creative Director of G&M, Paul decided to eliminate the daily financial restraints of running a large and successful business and go back to his roots – persue a career as a Creative Director/Art Director/Graphic Designer.

Presently Paul consults with a large number of clients in the public, private and not-for-profit sectors – HydroOne, PowerStream, Investors Group, Canadian Network for Respiratory Care, to name a few.

Paul’s strengths not only lay in concept and design but also in all phases of production, project planning and management. He has an enviable record of “on time” schedule management and “on budget” financial management. He keenly understands market/audience analyses communication strategies and pairs this knowledge with consistently high creative standards. He is focused on achieving “total quality” in production – working from initial concept through to completed and delivered product.

Paul also excels at selecting and forming lasting relationships with clients and suppliers. (Many of his clients have been with him since the start of his career. Many of his suppliers too; neither is a coincidence.) Paul’s involvement in projects is always “hands-on”. Paul works in his studio, in meetings and conceptually to help identify and manage production challenges before they become production problems.
